Are Your Website Visitors Bored With Reading How Great You Are?

I can’t tell you the number of times I have reviewed existing website copy and all I see is what I refer to as “me, me, me, me” writing.
Don’t get me wrong, your history, capabilities and successes should be recounted and are a great thing. Congratulations on your accomplishments! But don’t bore your readers to death with them. Believe it or not, they are not really there to read about you as much as they are to learn about with what results you can assure them. Trust me on this.
Your accomplishments, capabilities and offerings all need to be expressed in a way that identifies to your readers how they are directly useful to them to accomplish the specific result they know they must achieve. So how the heck do you do that, you ask?
Well, for example, take the following simple statement: “We have been in business since 1971.” How could you make that a statement that says something to your reader about the result they can expect from working with you? Try this. “Work with a company that has been providing successful solutions to clients since 1971.” Get the picture? You could also say: “Since 1971 our experienced team of professionals has been working with clients representing a variety of sectors in the manufacturing industry, including automotive, aerospace, marine, and many more, reducing production costs by up to 63% and getting products to market faster by up to 45%.” Catching on?
Your readers need you to paint a very specific picture of how what you offer gets them the exact result they are after. If you don’t write well then hire a professional copywriter. It is well-worth the investment to ensure you reach your targeted audience groups and persuade them to contact you so you can make the sale.
