Multiple Product Pictures Added to Google Universal Search

Now is a particularly great time to search engine optimize the images on your site because Google has added multiple product images to their Universal Search results (announced in the November 6, 2009 official Google blog post Multiple Pictures of Products in Universal Search). This is helpful for buyers and great for sellers.
For example, if you search for cctv camera Google’s Shopping Results now show up to 5 different product options including a base price and the number of sellers listed carrying that product. Once you click on an image you are taken to a landing page that offers a full description of the product taken from the website where the image originates (see highlighted company website name).
Below is listed helpful information like links to other sellers, seller rating, condition (new or used), tax and shipping, base price and reviews.
Although the feature is clearly designed for consumers, industrial buyers use the search engine to source so it is still beneficial to optimize images to rank well, particularly since there are products that will never be searched by consumers so you are guaranteed an industrial audience.
