SEO for Google-Friendly Website

Ranking on the first page of Google for the keywords and phrases relevant to your products and services as well as the sourcing professionals you are targeting can be a pretty profitable experience. A recent press release issued by an SEO marketing firm states that their research indicates Google has already begun to roll-out its completely new search algorithm (code name “Caffeine”) that aims to provide even better, faster and more relevant search results. Given the recent improvements made by Google, it is important for any business that wants to compete for high ranking page one search engine results, whether achieving them for the first time or maintaining them through the changes, to get their web pages optimized as soon as possible to be Google-friendly.

Beginning with site architecture, including internal linking, site maps, code, and url naming, to list just a few concerns, Google’s specific instructions to webmasters include:

“Create a useful, information-rich site, and write pages that clearly and accurately describe your content.”

Search is all about content. Real people use the search engine to search, find, and interact with content relevant to their needs. Google’s primary objective is to be the best provider for this content. But a search engine cannot evaluate quality so it has to rely on other means to learn if a web page has both relevant and quality content. One way it endeavors to achieve this is through inbound links. If a number of high quality links from external web pages relevant to your content point to your web pages then your web page content is deemed not only relevant but of quality because “others” have “said so” by linking to it. Ranking is therefore affected by the number of high quality inbound links that point to your web pages.

On the subject of “Ranking” Google states:

“In general, webmasters can improve the rank of their sites by increasing the number of high-quality sites that link to their pages.”

There are several legitimate ways to achieve helpful inbound links. The first is sometimes referred to as “link baiting,” which is a term I don’t care for because it sounds dishonest; however, all it means is you have content on site that other sites elect to link to on their own. This can be a research report, an instructional video, a useful online tool, a glossary, a news release, a product information sheet or instructional manual, or any other type of desirable content.

Another way to achieve quality inbound links is by listing in a respected online directory and providing a link back to your relevant web page. Paid inclusion (yearly fee to submit a listing) search engine directories like Yahoo Directory or Business.com and online industrial directories like ThomasNet, KelleySearch or Macraes, potentially offer both inbound links and targeted traffic.

A third way to acquire inbound links is through the submission of articles to relevant publishing sites that attract your target audience groups. Blogs and newsletters published via RSS feeds, for example, press releases broadcast through news services, as well as any writings submitted directly to third-party publishing sources, all include a backlink to your website.

There are still more legitimate ways to increase inbound links to your website and improve your chances of ranking on page one of Google for terms important to your business. But making sure your website is Google-friendly takes priority. Linking campaigns will serve you no good until your website has been properly search engine optimized. Ranking organically on page one of Google offers your business long-term return on investment for branding, sales and lead generating.

Do you have some certain recommendations?

  2. Provided you are publishing on a reputable site where you are sure your target audience is spending time, everything you mentioned is a good idea. Just remember that the main reason for getting inbound links is to rank well in Google so you can attract your target audience, one with which you can actually do business. If you are a writer, contribute articles to sites that target your audience. You can attract inbound links by appearing where your audience spends time and by demonstrating your value through the information you provide.

  3. Very intereresting reading. thx
