Getting SEO to Work for You
Posted By Industrial Web Solutions Marketing Team on March 23, 2010
Not too long ago Mark Jackson of ClickZ wrote a great little article about the difficulties of Hiring an SEO. He was actually speaking of his challenge of hiring search engine optimization specialists to join his team. The point he made was that the industry had evolved and integrated with other online marketing initiatives such as “blogs, social media promotion, local efforts, video optimization, image optimization, etc.” so it now takes a full-fledged marketing specialist with core competencies across all marketing channels to really understand how to achieve online success for the client.
At Industrial Web Solutions this has been our approach since the beginning of the internet as a marketing vehicle back in the early 1990’s when we first got started. Jackson goes on to say in his article, ”Chances are, you could have your SEO involved in analytics, copywriting, Web site design, hosting, public relations, reputation management, social media efforts, and have these efforts totally integrated with the “traditional” marketing that you’re involved in.”
Yup. That’s what we have always done here. Clients always benefit from a well-planned integrated cross-channel effort that takes into consideration the short term goals that often work to finance the long term objectives. The IWS team has always been diversified, covering everything from web development and application development to both traditional offline marketing and new media online marketing, including the search engines. We were doing SEO before it was called SEO.
Industrial marketers can always benefit from an integrated approach, where search engine optimization is designed to support other initiatives that help the company reach its goals along a continuum over time. Think of it like a relay race, where each runner has an impact on the overall outcome. SEO is just one runner. With the proper preparation it can support growth across a number of business areas within your company.
